Important Dates for Arkansas Voters

January 2008

January 4:  Deadline to register to vote in the February Primary

February 2008

February 5:  Arkansas’s Presidential Preferential Primary Election. Polls are open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

March 2008

March 3-10: Filing period for candidates who desire to be included in the May Preferential Primary Election.

March 16: Ballot positions determined by lot in public meetings of Country Board of Election commissioners.

April 2008

April 15: Absentee ballots delivered to county clerks for Preferential Primary Election.

April 21: Deadline to register to vote in Preferential Primary Election

May 2008

May 5:  Early Voting begins for the Arkansas Preferential Primary Election & Nonpartisan General Election.

May 20:  Arkansas Preferential Primary Election & Nonpartisan General Election

June 2008

June 10:  Arkansas Primary Election Runoff

August 2008

August 25–28:  Democratic National Convention in Denver, CO.

September 2008

September 1-4: Republican National Convention, Minneapolis-St Paul, MN

September 16:  Annual School Election

October 2008

October 5: deadline to register to vote in General Election

October 20: early voting begins for General Election

November 2008

November 4: General Election
